About The Gate Church Music Ministry...
The mission of The Gate Church is to Seek, to Serve, and to Send, and the Music Ministry shares in that mission. It is our aim to worship as a lifestyle. As The Gate Church music ministry members, we choose to live intentional lives investing both in Gods work and His people. As worship leaders we have the opportunity to glorify God and to invite others to do the same. The Apostle Paul modeled the passion of a worship leader for us when he said, “I urge you brothers, in view of Gods mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, this is your true and proper worship.” (Romans 12:1, NIV)
This shared passion is what drives our actions and motivates us to maintain healthy relationships as teammates, to grow in excellence as musicians, to look for ways to buildup and encourage each other, to search for and participate in what the Holy Spirit is doing around us, and to pray for our team and for our church family.
Please read our VISION, MISSION, and VALUES.
If you agree with our VISION, MISSION and VALUES and can sing and/or play an instrument, as well as make the necessary commitments, we would love to have you join the team. I look forward to partnering with you at The Gate Church!

MUSIC TEAM EXPECTATIONS
The Music Team is a leadership position. All team members are representatives of Christ and our church, both on stage and off stage. Therefore, we look for participants who have a high personal integrity, a servant’s heart and a strong commitment to uphold the values of our church and music team. Being a music team member is more than singing or playing an instrument. Here is a list of our expectations;
Team Members are. . .
- Committed to having a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Committed to modeling worship on stage and off by honoring Jesus Christ in their speech, in their relationships, and with their lifestyle.
- Committed to praying for the Music Ministry and its team members.
- Committed to having a servants heart that strives for excellence.
- Committed to being flexible and having a “whatever it takes” attitude.
- Committed to having a positive attitude towards all team members.
- Committed to skill development and constructive criticism in an appropriate context.
- Committed to attendance, preparedness and punctuality at all rehearsals, including midweek and Sunday mornings. Rehearsals are required in order to lead inany scheduled worship service.
To be eligible for the music team, you must be a member of The Gate Church and have attended regularly for 3 months.
The time requirement for music team members is approximately 6 hours per week when they are scheduled for the Sunday Worship Services. (This time frame does not include personal practice time.) Included in the time requirements are Tuesday night rehearsals (6:30 - 8:30 pm) and Sunday morning services (8:00am-12:00pm). It is very important that you are on time to all rehearsals.
WHAT’S THE NEXT STEP?
If you feel you are ready to begin the application process and believe that you can meet the necessary requirements, please fill out the application on the following pages. You can drop off your completed application at the church office any time during office hours. (Monday – Wednesday 9am - 12pm) When you turn in your application, you will be contacted within the following 2 weeks to possibly submit multiple auditions. Once the auditions are reviewed, a determination will be made as to whether to proceed to an interview.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN AN INTERVIEW?
We just want to get to know you personally and make sure that moving forward it will be a good fit for our current team and for you.
WHEN WILL DECISIONS BE MADE?
You will be notified within a week of the interview as to your next steps. If we feel you are ready, then we will communicate with you about our current team needs and you will be placed on the call list. You will be asked to sit in on rehearsals for at least 8-12 weeks. This will allow for the team to get to know you better, help you become familiar with how we rehearse, and help you find your place on the team. After this orientation time, we will talk about when you may be ready to begin joining the team on Sunday mornings.
Please understand because of our loyalty to our volunteers we will not remove an existing team member in order to create an open position for a new volunteer. What that means practically for you is that upon approval to join the team you will be added to an “on-call” list. You may at that point be called on immediately or maybe not for a long while. But by showing up on time and prepared when you are called on to fill in, you will over time grow into a more regular position.
If, for whatever reason, we do not feel you are ready to join the team at that time, then you will be directed to a few specific resources that can help you grow and improve your capability. You can always reapply. Please understand that The Gate Church Music Ministry exists to enable people, not to disable them. Therefore, it is our desire and hope to see you step into Gods intended plans and purpose for your life.
